Bone marrow failure syndromes (BMFS) are a group of disorders characterized by the bone marrow's inability to produce sufficient blood cells, leading to conditions such as aplastic anemia. These syndromes can be inherited or acquired and may manifest as single cytopenia or pancytopenia, with symptoms including fatigue, bleeding, and bruising.
These disorders are:
- Aplastic anemia
- Fanconi anemia
- Paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH)
- Diamond-Blackfan anemia
- Shwachman-Diamond syndrome
